Round 9-10: United Kingdom

London ePrix

The 2015-2016 season finale of the FIA Formula E Championship is held at London’s Battersea Park with a spectacular double-header event.

Battersea Park is transformed for the London ePrix, with its perimeter road modified into a 2.925km race track with 17 turns. The circuit is a tricky one as it has a heavy camber and is narrow, making overtaking difficult to achieve.

Pre-Race Preview

Nelson Piquet:

“The London race obviously holds very special memories for me. The track is quite good, it’s really bumpy and narrow so it’s a challenging one.”

Pre-Race Preview

Oliver Turvey:

“It is always special to race at home on British soil. The first corner is tricky as the car touches the ground on the crest as you turn-in.”

Post-Race 1 Review

Nelson Piquet (Car #1):

“We had a software problem in qualifying, which meant we couldn’t qualify. Instead we focused on trying for the Visa fastest lap, which we achieved, and it gave us a couple of valuable Championship points.”

54:48.681 + 52.028

Post-Race 1 Review

Oliver Turvey (Car #88):

“It was great to qualify in P3! I had a really solid race and maintained P3, but then Vergne drove into the back of me a few times which damaged the rear wing and rear diffuser and the car didn’t feel the same after then.”

Final Timings:

49:36.457 DNF

Post-Race 1 Review

Martin Leach, President, NextEV:

"It’s unfortunate that Oliver wasn’t able to hold onto third after a very good run in both stints.”

“Nelson was forced to start at the back of grid after the issue in qualifying, but coming away with two Championship points for the fastest lap of the race is certainly a positive result for him.”

Post-Race 2 Review

Nelson Piquet (Car #1):

“We took away another two Championship points in this race, and now we will work hard in pre-season testing to have a much more competitive car for next season.”

“I’d like to say congratulations to Sebastien Buemi, he did an amazing job to win the championship this year and I hope he enjoys it!”

Final Timings:

57:46.918 + 1:14.270

Post-Race 2 Review

Oliver Turvey (Car #88):

“I was able to really nail my qualifying lap. It was easily my best lap of the season and it was good to be able to get through to Super Pole on merit.”

“It was a shame not to get a better result in the race, but I’m happy with the pace over the weekend.”

Final Timings:

57:54.864 + 1:22.216

Post-Race 2 Review

Martin Leach, President, NextEV:

“What a thrilling end to the second season of Formula E. We have been able to end the season taking away some positives, including a points finish in the final race for both drivers, which will create some good momentum going into off-season testing.”
