The Mexico City ePrix will take place at 1600hrs on Saturday 12 March 2016 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. NextEV’s Nelson Piquet Jr and Oliver Turvey will be in action for NextEV as the FIA Formula E Championship visits Mexico for the first time.
Nelson Piquet Jr: “I think it’s going to be a fantastic race in Mexico City. The fans there are some of the most enthusiastic in the world. They gave Formula 1 an incredible reception earlier in the year and I hope they enjoy what we bring to the city with Formula E. It’s right that big races are going back to a city with such motorsport history.”
Oliver Turvey: “We’re racing on part of the F1 track and it looks like it’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be my first time racing in Mexico, it looks like a unique place to race and I’m really excited for it. I hope that we will be able to welcome many fans and to introduce them to electric racing with a fantastic, competitive, exciting Formula E race.”
Martin Leach, President, NextEV: “We are looking forward to visiting Mexico City, a brand new venue on the Formula E calendar, and famous for its passionate racing fans. Nelson and Oliver have been to Germany ahead of the race and have been working hard on our new simulator looking to build on our recently improving performance with points scoring finishes in the race.”
